1. Label one pair X1 and Y1, and the other pair X2 and Y2 (doesn't matter which).
ex: (5, 1) and (10, 2) -> 5 OR 10 is X1, 1 OR 2 is Y1
2. The formula for slope is delta y over delta x, or change in y over change in x. Basically, Y2 - Y1 / X2 - X1.
ex: (5, 1) and (10, 2)
2 - 1 = 1 OR 1 - 2 = -1
10 - 5 = 5 OR 5 - 10 = -5
1/5 OR -1/-5 = 1/5 (that's the slope of my example problem)

Your problem:
(-6, 9) and (4, 11)
11 - 9 / 4 - -6
2 / 4 + 6
2 / 10 = 1 / 5

Slope is the change of y over the change in x.

Your coordinates are in a (x,y) fashion so if point 1 is (x1, y1) and point 2 is (x2, y2) then the slope is

(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

In your case it is

(11 - 9)/(4-(-6)) = 2/10 = 1/5

So your slope is 1/5

What does this mean?

First:
If the slope is positive, the line is going up (left to right in the positive x direction).

Second:
For every 1 y unit up, the line travels 5 units right in x.

Good Luck!

m = (11 - 9) / (4 - (-6) = 2/10 = 1/5

Slope (m) = (y1 -y2) / (x1 - x2)

in your case m = (9-11) / (-6 -4) = -2/-10 = 2/10 = 1/5 = 0.2

Step 1: Write down the formula for slope.

Slope = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

Step 2: Plug in the values.

x1 = -6
x2 = 4

y1 = 9
y2 = 11

Slope = (4 - (-6))/(11 - 9)
= (4 + 6)/(2)
= 10/2
= 5
