if you're looking to buy one that you will not have to upgrade for a while then you might want to look for one with a slightly faster processor and also one that already comes with windows vista. RAM you can always upgrade so make sure you get a decent processor, 1.6Ghz is not bad at all for a laptop, but if you're just buying one now i highly recommend a faster one. So i would say yes to buying a newer laptop, or "a more new one."

I recommend the HP TX1000 series. It's a tablet pc and comes from a good company. Have been with them for 7 years and no problems. The Toshiba that you are looking is a bit out of date and you should get more out of it like the tx1000 comes with 1gb. Toshiba gives you low battery lifes, bad monitors, etc. You should get more Hard drive too low.

well I got a early-model toshiba satellite and it's still working great, so, as far as i can tell, those are good ones. but it depends on what do you want it for. a satellite tablet is fine just for school stuff. but if you want a really powerful, all-capable, high-tech you could better get a gateway, or a sony vaio....but if you are not going on engeeniering you could do good with a toshiba satellite, or even a dell

You really need at least 1GB of RAM and a dual core processor for good performance and to play most video games. You can get one from Dell for around $600-700. The computer you listed is a low end machine.

I have a toshiba P-35 laptop and I like it. Get 2 GB of RAM chips when they sell it to you and be sure the video board has serious RAM on it as well.

Toshiba is a good laptop computer but the swivel monitor is something you can do without, it is just a gimmick.

ok it might look stylish but remember it can very easily snap off, and you would not want that to happen would you...

So here you have to think logic and safety for your equipment that you want to last you for years

Speck wise it is already out of date, Most new computers come with At least 1gb of RAM (VS 512)

However since it runs XP it will work fine on 512 mb of RAM, for the proce however it is a good deal (You can allways upgrade the RAM if needed)

it looks okay but, personally, i dont like toshiba. i recommend sony, but the absolute best is mac. they are a bit pricier, but worth it 100% i think. im guessing that since you want a tablet, youre in to graphic design and stuff and mac is the best for that kind of stuff. you can always buy a special mouse pad where you can draw and stuff like that
