Many larger corporations now have policies of "corporate social responsibility" that involve how the organization gives back to the community in terms of sponsorships, money, and volunteers.

If you check on the corporations website, you may be able to find their CSR policy, and appropriate contacts.

In other organizations, this function is connected to the marketing/pr departments as it is seen as a way to promote the company as a socially responsible organization.
