Because they are creepy! Now I hear this is the year for the cicadas to come out again. Wow. Once every 7 years these orange and black locust things appear from underground. They swarm in masses. You already know... I don't even go outside when them things rear their ugly heads.
And NO.... I don't care if they are harmless... They are creepy and freaky...

I usually say "it"...but anyway its the same way men call cars "she". Men think they can control. People think bugs are scary and thats usually the men :D...and what someone else said about being annoying as well...

I call bugs 'it' - I haven't heard anyone call a bug 'him' or 'her' cos really we can't be sure...
