I don't think it's weird. It could get awkward if she has to grade your school work and you are not happy with the results. Otherwise, embrace the friendship. Good friends are hard to find.

It's not weird at all as long as you know where to limit the friendly relationship you have with her. I would say keep it at school premises because a hint of knowledge to authorities that you have been spending time with her outside of school could mean trouble. I'm not referring to you and your teacher friend but if you look at the Mary Kay Letourneau Case, it was a really big thing in the media way back then. No offense to you but I'm just warning you that friendly relationships lead to another thing but I'm sure you are smart enough to know what you want.

It is good if she is like a mentor. There is nothing wrong with enjoying her company and having her help you with advice. It isn't good if the conversations become inappropriate, like if she is acting like a kid, talking about guys and what not. I mean if you ask her advice about a boy that is ok, but talking about who is hot or whatever would be completely unacceptable. She shouldn't smoke, drink or swear in front of you, ever.

Not in the least bit! Some of my high school teachers were also friends, and remained friends long after high school.

Well obviously its weird to you if your asking that question, if she was really just trying to be your friend in a teacher kind of way then you shouldn't feel any uneasyness around her.

Of course its not weird... if she is giving you advice, or even just listening, she's being a role model and friend.
Which... is what teachers are for, so its not weird at all.
I feel this way about several of my teachers. ^_^
