I think that 14 is too young to become a wife. As for arranged marriages, I'm really not sure. We (americans) are so quick to slam something like this because often we don't take the time to understand customs other than our own. However, if you look at the divorce rate here, we might not have all the answers... In many situations, I find that I cope better when I don't have too many choices/options. Regardless, our opinions don't really matter much. The important thing is how things turn out for you in your marriage - I sincerely hope his is a kind person and treats you very well:)

I have no problem with arranged marriages, I do believe 14 is too young, but there's a lot I don't understand about other cultures.
If you're not being forced, then you should wait until you're older, at least 17 or 18.

it's different, some may say it's not fair and to some extent i agree. i always believed that you should follow your heart. my grandparents had an arranged marriage. they loved each other in a different way than regular married people do. it's a love that grows every day, more and more. it's hard to explain but you have to see it to know what i am talking about. although the age thing troubles me a little bit, but since you aren't being forced to do it you can take the time to think about it.

i don't agree with them at all and forcing a child to marry, especially someone who is 30 is child abuse. i know you said you are not being forced but, are you being prodded? what is the point in an arranged marriage? why would any parent even consider this at the age of 14? don't they care about their child's feeling's? their well being? their future?

My personal opinion is that people should marry and love whomever they CHOOSE to.
It's unfortunate that you will have to marry someone that you may not love. You will be forced to be with this person when there could be someone out there for you who could be your soulmate.
However, every culture is different. If you are accepting to it, then I cannot tell you that you are wrong. I just wanted to give me opinion on the matter.

Arranged marriages are wrong. Men love them because they get to have a young little trophy wife that they can control and mold into their slave, and they can have all that without the ego-crushing blow of any rejection in the dating field.

I think it's ridiculous, and cruel. And their should be laws against forcing young children with men old enough to be their father. It's absolutely disgusting.
