The farthest forward, pointed end of the ship is called the 'Head'. The forward sail is called the 'Head Sail. The forward support guy, called a 'stay', is the Head Stay.

A figure on the head of the vessel is called the "Figure Head".

i actually just posted this question ten mintues ago myself!

i have found it's called a figurehead. and it can be a woman, man, animal, mermaid, etc...
