North Dallas and the Midtown area (between Loop 12 and Hwy. 635 just off of Central Expressway) is a great area for young single professionals. There's a great urban vibe and plenty to do. There's always a new bar or restaurant to check out, and it's easy enough to access some of the bigger entertainment and sports venues. If you go further north to Plano, Allen, McKinney, or Frisco, you're in a more family oriented area, but a newer, more contemporary family. Allen is growing and is becoming a great place for a wide demographic. So is the west side of Plano and parts of Frisco. Lots of great places to hang out and meet people, and you can easily get to any part of the metroplex. The Dallas area has lakes nearby if you like to boat or fish, and there are biking/hiking trails if you are into that, too. Dallas has been growing into a hotbed for foodies, art enthusiasts, performing arts fans, and techies - it's a really well rounded city, and there are a lot nice areas to settle in to the north or northwest. The job market has taken a hit, but not as badly as the rest of the country, and being that real estate prices have remained competitive, DFW is a great value as well. As far as people, we have a great mix of folks from everywhere, and everyone is pretty friendly. Life is a little more laid back here. The weather is kind of unpredictable on occasion, but not so bad. We had quite a bit of snow this winter, but two snowfalls over 10 inches almost never happens here. We get really hot and humid summers, mild and breezy fall days, and kind of chilly winters. Spring is the most inconsistent, I think.

Since Dallas area is really made up of a lot of jurisdictions you are going to have to contact each city's department of low income housing to ask that question. Each city has different levels as to what is "low income"
