An org chart gives you a visual of the company's hierarchy. You may have the CEO (Head Honcho) at the top, then a line drawn to the President below him, then several lines drawn from the Prez to the Vice Presidents under him, etc.

Here's an example (below). The guy at the top is the boss of all below him. The lines show who reports to whom. Good luck.

The Org Chart or also called the Hierarchy Structure/Tree of a company is a pictorial presentation of the various departmental heads and their reporting heads in the organisation.

It is a top-down pictorial view of all the departments and department heads from the CEO to the Board of directors to the various department heads in an organisation.

The Org. chart gives a fair idea as to how the Organisation is structured and how the various departments/heads interelated and report to.

It shows the following things:

1. How different sections or departments interrelate.
2. The positions and names in each section and
3. The hierarchy within those sections.

For example: It would show that there is a Finance department that has a CFO, and reporting to him is a FC, and a Commercial Manager, and then reporting to the FC is the Accounting Manager and the Accounts payable manager, etc.

It helps show people who does what and how it relates to the rest of the organisation.

when you have to start an organisation we require a proper planning in the company. It means it is showing heirarchy of the company from top to bottom. The top person is mainly dependent for the company. except top man like ceo other people will give the support to the top man like bass. After the perfect planning of the organisation chart only companys functions will start smoothly for the growth of the company. any new joinees joining the company then only the organisation chart change from time to time.
