when i talk to the guys, theres a black heart... what does that mean?

it really depends on which game you're playing.
in harvest moon: AWL, the harvest sprites put it on your shelf. in btn, fomt, and DS, you buy it at the shop
if you are playing as a boy, you can use it on any girl that shows colored hearts when you talk to them. if you play as a girl, the boys that have colored hearts are the targets the blue feather can be used on.

Well when you have a red heart event with a girl(must be marriageable), you must buy a blue feather and a big bed. Also you need to upgrade your house! Buy it at the sprite's tree store thing..

you get the blue feather from the little elf guys and it appears on your tools shelf, the hearts are how much they like you, the more hearts, the more they like you, and you can give the feather to any of the main guys you want, but they have to like you back

after the first year...and u have some1 that has full hearts for u there is a cut scene and the little elf guys give it to u
