Because people watch the commercials, and even if it isn't for them, they go to their doctor and ask for the medicine. I know people who've threatened to go to a different doctor because 'they'd give me the prescription,' and usually, doctors cave in to that. If for nothing else than to be able to carefully monitor the patient's status and thus stop them from continuing if someone goes amiss.
Of course, there are the doctors that love selling extraneous drugs, which of course are the ones that the patients threaten to go to.

Adverse vaccine reactions are very much like food allergies; you never know unless you take it.
Whereas the testing population were fine with peanuts, all you need is 1,000 people to develop a reaction to cause a ruckus. And now, my M&M Chocolates say 'may contain peanuts.'

It is unfortunate that some people do have adverse reactions to different vaccines that are developed, but the vaccines do a lot more good than harm - they will save more lives than they take and save more lives than if it wasn't developed.
They are giving out the cervical cancer vaccine in Australia at the moment and no one has yet died from the vaccine - they are giving to children in school, so if anyone was going to be susceptible than chances are it would be them, but things are ok so far.
The world is better off cause of vaccines, and we should be happy that they have a vaccine for 1 type of cancer, cause it could mean a vaccine to other types of cancer in the coming years.

I try to be careful, but it's very hard sometimes. I'm getting an infusion of something called Remicade every six weeks. Before I started it they sent me home with a tape to watch that informed me of the risks, including lymphoma of all things. But the alternative for me? Say no and end up in a wheel chair fairly shortly. The choices we sometimes have to make are not easy ones. Now I have a enlarged lymph node that's been there for five months and next week I get it scanned. Not looking for sympathy here at all, just being honest to try and make a point. You get second, and third opinions and every one tells you that you need to be on whatever drug to improve your condition or extend your life. If you're sick enough, you'll listen to them, or most people will. Trust is a scary thing when it comes to doctors and the promise of a better tomorrow.

If I had a daughter I think I would want her to receive the shot.

typically because it makes you feel better...

Look... we have the most stringent requirements in the world set by the FDA. Human bodies aren't machines... there is a chance with every medical procedure or medication that it may not turn out perfect... they can test until they are blue in the face and they do... Do you know how long it takes to get a new drug approved and how much testing they do and then the requirements they have to follow even after it's been on the market for years? People wonder why new drugs cost so much.... And don't get me wrong here... I know they make a lot and I don't have a problem with that...if you own your own business you want it to do very well too... BUT when and if there is true neglect... they should pay through the nose.

That's why I am NOT having my daughter vaccinated with Gardisil. I don't take my kids or myself to the doctor for every little thing; as a matter of fact we probably only go to the doctor maybe once a year. We eat right, exercise daily, take multivitamins and drink plenty of filtered water daily, and we get good sleep at night. There are many things we all could do to avoid the doctor and the drug companies' poison. I've never been able to figure out why people just take anything without investigating it themselves or without getting a second opinion, and I don't know why more people don't take better care of themselves to begin with.

Because people trust doctors implicitly instead of educating themselves, listening to their own bodies and learning the root and motivations of drug companies. They desperately want to FEEL BETTER, or just NORMAL. Few people know anything about herbs, food/exercise healing and why certain conditions grow into dis-ease. We treat our bodies poorly. Why would drug companies do it any differently. SOME doctors and drug companies are more mindful than others and you have to know what people's expectations and intentions are. People don't even read drug warnings, from the pharmacist to the doctor, to the patient and all around. The poison is really the absence of knowledge and education.

Hey stupid. Next time you are sick...stay home and suffer and maybe die. Everything you ingest has potential side effects weather it be a beer, a twinkie or the latest drug. When you are on your deathbed ravaged by some disease, looking at your children crying and asking why this is happening to you, tell them you do not trust the "EVIL" drug companies. Get real.

Because of the advertising on TV. Have you ever really listened to commercials? Even when you don't, having your brain exposed over and over again to the same message can lead you into purchasing something that perhaps you don't need.

I'm sure MANY more men are taking viagra and cialis than need be because even though they thought they didn't need it, their brains have been hearing the phrase "4 hour erection" so many times that it's just too good to pass up. It doesn't matter that the commercials warn against the unlikelihood of a 4-hour erection, just their saying it implies the possibility and your brain, after repeatedly hearing it puts it on your subconscious' shopping list.

Well, at the age of 45 my grandmother died of cervical cancer and it remains a threat to the rest of us as well. The fact that I barely remember her haunts me so I am all for this new medical breakthrough and I wish it would have happened in the late 70's. Who knows, maybe my sadly missed and needed grandmother would still be here today.

Most drugs have some side effects , however usually these are tollerated to get relief from a more serious ailment or life threatening disease. Many more people would die without any treatment , so what if a few die along the way , its worth it to save many more.
