do you think our overseas filipino workers are our modern day heroes? yes, they got the dollars but they dont serve their Countrymen... some of the fresh grads already applied for a visa to work abroad...do you think they really love our country because they sacrifice a lot to go abroad and work there or they just do it for their families?

I believe the working single mother is a modern hero, and the same goes for the single working father. In this day an age we should rever individuals who strive to promote the dignity of all human life, continual commitment to principals, the art of both the mind and of natural earth , and personal achievement.

The Subway hero is a modern hero. This is a true event that happened about a man that jumped down on a subway tract to save the life of another man from getting ran over by the train. I think he is a prime example of a modern day hero.

(showing my age) I used to idolize actor Robert Conrad and WW II fighter pilot (ace) Maj. Gregory 'Pappy' Boyington. Then while serving at the Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, I got to meet them both. Conrad's limo pulled up to our squadron sponsored golf outing -- he was the "guest of honor." We rendered a hand salute, his driver opened the door, and Conrad fell flat on his face, drunk. He was only interested in the beer and the women.
Boyington, proved to be full of himself and was later proved to be a lier.
I try never to "idolize" anyone. They're all just human and bound to have flaws.
The "overseas filipino workers"? I've been to the P.I (Philippine Islands) enough to know not to idolize them. Sorry.
