An acre contains 46,560 sq. feet. Multiply that by 10,000 and you add 4 zeroes for a total of 465,600,000 sq. feet. Now you do the math to divide by sq. miles or whatever unit of measure you are looking for.

640 acres is 1 square mile, so 10,000 acres is
10,000/640 = 15.625 square miles. This would be a square √15.625 = 3.9528 miles on a side.
