I wouldn't call it retail error, but I cashed a check at my bank at the drive through for 50 bucks and the envelope came back with 500 in it. I didn't count it until I got home. I got back in my car and took it back. The teller was in tears because she told me they would have fired her for the mistake. As it turned out, she kept her job and I slept a little better that night knowing I did the right thing. My parent's raised me well.

I got a $60 denim jacket for $29, because some poor clerk placed a whole bunch of them on the wrong rack. The manager gave me the lower price. I bet some heads rolled over that one! lol. And that is the only time in my life that I have had an error made in my favor.

Once a check-out clerk rang a $10 coupon twice. The second best was once at Christmas, the check-out clerk put the Ham into the bag, but forgot to scan the item. Free Ham for Christmas that year.
Oh, and I would never challenge the clerk about their error. Tisk, tisk.

I bought a $1000 TV and VCR on a payment plan. After two months I noticed there weren't any payments being deducted from my account. I didn't want a big bill all at once so I went back to the store. There was a note saying it was in receivership. I was never billed. I still have the TV and it works great. And no, I don't feel guilty.

I ordered a video cabinet and after two months of waiting for it, I cancelled the order (I'd put it on a credit card). They applied the money back to the card, and about a month later called to tell me my video cabinet was in. I called and explained I'd cancelled it. A month later they called again. Again, I explained. A couple weeks later, they call again. So, I went down, and tried to explain they'd already credited my card and cancelled the order..they told me I was wrong, so I picked it up (they were going to credit my card again).
Six months later, they call to tell me my video cabinet was in. Went through the same gig, and after the 3rd time, I went down and picked it up, since once again they were going to credit my account. I ended up with two free video cabinets.
I'll do my best to be honest, but there times when the stupidity is just too rampant, and I play along. I'm going to say it was probably about a $600 error in my favor.

This was the best, last summer I bought my kids one of those big blue backyard pools, The sign said 299.88 at Wal-mart. When I got to the check out it rang up 29.88. And of course they had to honor that. So I got it for 29.88. I was so happy, I just went back in the store and spent the rest on stuff I really didn't need.

Well, I was buying shampoo and I handed the cashier $20 for it. She was kind of distracted and took the $20, typed it into the cash register, and gave me the change. However, she forgot to put the $20 back into the cash register and handed it to me along with my extra change. I tried to explain to her that I only have her a 20, but she was convinced I gave her 40. So, I left with my profit and my shampoo.

It was a four dollar cookie sheet. I honestly didn't realize it till I got home, two were stuck together. It was too far to drive to correct and inet wasn't available for addresses so I let it go.
