This may sound strange, but consider the fact that it is coming from someone that has also been there twice.

We need guys like you there now. You have the experience. You know what to look for. You understand that new piece of concrete curbing is actually a planted IED. The dead dog on the side of the road has a bomb in it. The guy taking pop shots at you and running into the alley is trying to lead you into an ambush. The guys that are going over there for their first time will be experiencing it for just that, the first time. And they may not see all the clues that you or I have seen over the last couple of tours.

I cannot make your mind up for you. But if you are Active Duty, your choices are limited to, no choice. If you are Reserve Component or National Guard, they are supposed to ask you to volunteer for sequential tours.

Hey that really sucks. I never signed on and am too old anyway. I doubt you can get out of it and desertion is not a great option. That will follow you around forever, and running off to another country isn't going to work like it did for Vietnam either. I don't know but if you have any friends that are lawyers or doctors they may have an idea or two. I totally agree with you for not wanting to go. I'll leave all the ranting to others, I'm sure with a question like this you see alot of it

Probably not worth it. We American owe our soldiers a good deal of gratitude for their willingness and valor in duty, but, as far as I can tell, Iraq is a mess of a war we shouldn't have started in the first place, but since we did it, we should have run it efficiently and with concrete plan. We did not, we botched the war in nearly every way imaginable and now it is our debt to the fighting men and women to pull them out. Good luck if you decide to go, otherwise, find a nice Canadian girl.

I can't tell you what to do. I can tell you that I think I would be asking the same questions. You are not saying if you are in the military or some civilian job, so I assume military. God bless you for what you have done and may do in the future. I will keep you in my prayers.

I'm sorry to hear of your predicament, but you signed the contract so you have to go. If you deserted you would regret it for the rest of your life.

Thank you for your sacrifice. Stay safe and keep your head down.

everybody has their own opinions about this war. you signed a contract knowing the consequences, a contract is a promise, you need to uphold that promise. your feelings are certainly plausible though.

If it was really a threat to the U.S. yes, but you should know
it is a war between cultures that have nothing to do with the U.S.

Who would want to go back after all that? It's not a bad thing, not wanting to go back.
