Carbohydrates and Lipids do not always contain nitrogen (mostly they don't). They are both used in formation of cell MEMBRANES. Phospholipids (rather than lipids per se) make up the cell membrane proper and carbohydrates are often attached to the outside. Carbohydrates are not used as an insulation material.
