Is there a alternative to go wireless on my ibook other than using the airport (which cost around 75$)?

Nearly any wireless router will work just fine with your MAC. So just pick one, the OS does not matter to the router.
Wifi is wifi and all units work the same. That is part of its attraction.

A router or card?
I'm using my PB G4 wirelessly with a linksys wrt54g router, PC only tech support though.
There are Airport wireless cards going for around $40, google one.

there is, buying a cheaper wireless adapter that can be used to your existing wireless router/modem/switch. but then again compatiblity will the issue, since both are apple made, your ibook is beter off with an airport.
