okay, i really enjoy acting and was wondering how to get a start. let me mention, i'm not even close to wealthy, so agents or lessons are completely out of the question and I live in too small of a town for any community productions. I participate in school plays, but I won't be in school forever.

It sounds like you're hampered by your surroundings. You may need to move to a place that is at least big enough to have its own community theatre. If you still enjoy it and are good at it at that level, try moving up to a larger city or enrolling in classes or a college that offers Drama or Acting classes. You also need to make one major decision: theatre or movies? Acting for the stage is a completely different animal than acting for a camera. In fact, you can take Acting for the Camera classes and they will tell you the same thing. A camera can pick up a facial tic that will be lost on the second row of an audience in a theatre.

There are soooo many people out there trying to be actors. The hard reality is that you really should concentrate on building a profession you can rely on to earn you a regular income and worry about acting later. You can always take acting/theater in college. Doing it that way, it will always be something you absolutely love that helps to balance your life. You may alos find other things you're good at along the way. Heck, if you like to act, you'd probably make a great attorney!
Good Luck!

I hear this problem a lot and there really isn't much you can do if your not willing to do. If you really want to continue then start your own. I don't mean buy a building or anything just talk to some schools and see if they would allow you to use their gym or auditorium. their is a lot of plays you don't have to pay royalties on so you will have to stick to those. find ppl with the same goals. You only need a few to have a full cast. if you don't want to do that then give up or move :)

Well, if you're in high school, you might want to consider a degree in drama, or going to a preforming arts school, like Julliard. If you just keep at it, and, I know this is cheesy, ifyou believe in you'rself, the rest will be easy cheesy.

Acting will always be around. When you are older move to a larger city where there are theaters where you can act.
