As odd as it may sound for a goldfish tank, you need a heater. It's hard (read expensive) to deal with high temperatures, but easy to deal with the lows. Add a small heater to prevent it from dropping so low over night and it will smooth out the roller coaster ride. A goldfish can live in temperatures in the mid 70's with no harm at all and it's better to be slightly warmer the "perfect" than have the temperature running up and down all the time.

Goldfish are not very temperature dependant. If the tank varies more than 4 degrees throughout the day, I would get a heater and set it at the maximum temp the tank reaches naturaly during the day. This way, at least it does not fluctuate, and sometimes the fluctuation is harder on the fish than anything else.

Well you live in an area with high temperature fluctuations. So you might want to pick up a device that will heat/chill the water temperature to the desired level however these are costly and often cannot be found in stores. If i were you i would go online and look for one to order

You don't need a heater for gold fish, temp should be 70*-72*. Relocate your tank to the coolest place in your house. Where there is no direct sunlight.

Don't let direct sunlight at your tank. Don't forget that water heats and cools much slower than air (think of a swimming pool). The water fluctuation may not be as severe as you think.
