It is a source of powerful emotions. For some it is a beloved symbol of the old South. For others, it is a symbol of pain and suffering that their ancestors endured.
I like the design, but I am afraid to fly the flag or wear the shirts with that design.

I'm sure some people who have confederate flag stickers or fly the flag are racist, but it seems to me that the confederate flag has nothing to do with a desire to reinstate slavery or discrimination. As people have mentioned, it is a symbol of heritage. I also believe it's a symbol of states' rights or of individual rights. Part of the reason some states seceded from the union was because they didn't want the government telling them what to do. It's a principle people feel strongly about here today.

The confederate flag to the south is as the American Flag is to America. I had nothing to do with slavery nor their ancestors, but I do live in the south and proud of it. Remember your history is fine but leave it in the past. It is not happening today. Everyone keeps screaming let racism die die and yet things like this keep being brought up. Face it for what is is not what happened during that time frame OK.

Which Confederate flag are asking about? The 1st National, Battle Flag, 2nd National, or 3rd National? Or are you asking about the regiment flags?

It is a sad time for Dixie when people vote by emotion rather than research begging to be uncovered.
Jim Crow is treated in the same fashion--pure emotion. Newly free slaves were given the right not only to vote but placed in every legislature without qualification. They held Dixie in check for New England until overturned. Jim Crow ensued because of it, however, to push only that side is the very same position asusmed by anti-Confederate flaggers--a blissful, political-correct and safe position.
Real and manufactured hadtred of Dixie will end when we stop letting television and so-called "Rights" groups (money grubbers) telling us what things mean. MLK was asked about the Confederate flag and he said to leave it alone.

I think that, if a person wants to hang a confederate flag... let them. There is nothing wrong with someone wanting to be proud of where they come from and I think that it is admirable that people still hold onto that kind of pride after all of these years.

It's a flag that was used to symbolize the civil war. It had nothing to do with slavery which is what most people think. It is just a flag.

I'm from Texas and it was a flag that flew over our state. many people make a big deal out of it, i know that people see it as a negative, discrimination symbol, however it is a flag that flew over our great state, along with many others, and we do have the right to display that flag, the mexican flag flew over our state also, and if the mexicans can fly their flag well by god we can too. i simply see it as a southern symbol something that is apart of our history, I'm not a redneck, i am a card carring democrat, and 100 lesbian, so i take no offence to it.

That it is flown by rednecks who have a pickup truck bed full of empty beer bottles, rusted out side panels, and beards. I have never seen a black fly the flag. And I doubt that I will. OF course, I have never seen one of these pickups describe above with a rainbow decal on the bumper, either. No self respecting gay would drive such a heap.
