Yes it was...when Guillermo Del Toro made the movie, he made it completely in Spanish with no dubbing available. There were English subtitles that were easy to read and follow that made it so that you didn't miss what was going on in the movie and you could still feel what the actor/ress was feeling when they spoke a line.
