I was aware of that.

And it is tragic. No one should offer any blonde jokes, after that. ;)

Though I think the fake 'bottle-blonde' trend is lessening, (in favor of fake redheads, it seems) ... the blonde hair gene is very much recessive, and is easily dominated by partners with darker shades of hair.

Though, in parts of Australia and much of the Netherlands, blondes are the majority. So, if we ever breed out the natural blondes here in the U.S., we'll just arrange to import a few from there...

(Kidding.) XD

Well, I'm a natural blonde! And so is one of my step sisters. (The other is a brunette and so are both of my real sisters.) The blonde gene is usually recessive, and black/brown hair gene is usually dominant. Technically, the gene will never 'die out' because it is still there, even if the people that carry it are not blonde themsleves. Eventually, the carriers may have children that have blonde hair, because the gene (although recessive) is present a certain percentage of the time. The saying that blonde hair will become extinct is definetly a myth. You could use something as simple as a punnett square to prove it.

Although I do agree that a large percentage of the population today are bottle blondes.

It's true. The gene for blond hair is recessive and will eventually be present in less than 1% of the population. Scientifically speaking this is eqaul to being extinct. The reason it is now becoming an issue is that people from different backgrounds and gene pools are breeding so many natural blonds breed with natural brunettes. I've heard that within the next 200 years blonds will be "extinct"

No, that turned out to be a hoax. I read about it, they admitted no study was never done. I can see how people would believe it though. I thought they might put us in some kind of sanctuary or protection program. Nobody loves blondes anymore, they think we're all fake. It makes me sad.

Actually yes most people do dye their hair, but you have to keep i mind the natural blondes who dye their hair a diffent color then go back to their original color. Though I know many blondes at least aound 20.

This is an urban myth that goes back almost 100 years (seriously). Check out snopes.com, they will set you straight. Do a little research, and don't fall for silly stories like this.
