I could not agree with you more. We have more Laws than we know what to do with. Then we create more, to look tough, while NOT ENFORCING the one's we have...
What is it about the word "ILLEGAL" Elected officials don't understand?????
Quit the Talkin', Start the Walkin' or we wil elect some that do!!!
Anahi...Obviously you have never been to California where where we are the 7th Largest Economy in the World, and going Broke with 6,000,000 Illegal Welfare recipients, who pay NO TAXES and in turn send the Money back to Mexico.....No, not a good thing by any measure. Just wait...This WILL be coming to a Town near you SOON if this P.O.S. Bill goes thru...

There is a difference between enforcement and enforceability I think you are failure to distinguish the two. The fact of the matter is that there are all sorts of questions of jurisdiction, feasibility, and human decency that makes the question a big more complicated than your reduction of it being analogous to speeding in your car. First of all, immigration is handled by the federal government, and there is only so many people available to process illegal immigrants. Secondly, in order to allow enforcement and deportation of any use whatsoever, one would need to make the borders air-tight, which we do not have now and is, frankly, so expensive a venture with such nightmarish pontential legacy costs that it must give one pause. Human decency is another aspect, many illegals have children that are citizens, a unabating crackdown would break up families and cost us even more money in the care of parentless children--I believe, personally, that America is also a nation of decency so such a consideration ought also be viewed as serious. I might suggest to you to not allow the desire to simplify things lead to simple thinking; this is a big complicated issue, and we are not a country of unyielding law, that distinction is usually saved for draconian police states not our democracy.

The laws are not overlooked in this country for any one. If an illegal immigrant commits a crime they are punished just like everyone. As a true American I understand that most of this people put food in our table, and kips our economy going. So why shouldn’t the government give them a chance to do all of this things in a legal way. After all the government will not give bad people the right to this law.

We had a law 20 years ago that prohibited employers from hiring illegals, but no one enforced it. We have lots of laws about immigration, but no one enforces them. If they come up with a new bill, let's enforce it.

Exactly . We are being led to communism & socialism .If this bill passes it will be the end of America and all our freedoms - as we knew them . VOTE THE BUMS OUT OF OFFICE .EACH & EVERY ONE WHO IS TRYING TO TAKE AWAY A FREE AMERICA .
laws are only for American citizens . The rest can bring in their religious foot washing ceremonies into our airports-but we aren't allowed to say GOD in schools .Reid ; Pelosi ; Gore ; Kennedy ; Clinton ( take your pick ) ; Kerry and EVERYONE who votes for this bill should be fired ! I never thought I'd see the day our government would stab us in the back and twist it ~!

How many times have you driven over the speed limit and not been caught? The problem with enforcing immigration law is the US economy depends on the cheap labor.

Let's get that "cheap labor" from the scores of nonAmericans who are patiently waiting on LEGAL immigration then.

people in "higher goverment" assume that they are above the law. there are no police officers for police officers other than internal affairs, but they are rarely notified for traffic complaints.
