~~~ Hi Eric!! Philosophically speaking "under use" IS the ONLY WAY TO USE a bathtub. If I am going to soak up some bubbles I hope I have a bathtub under my BUTT!! lol!! ~~~
That is a loaded question which will get you as many yay as nay. I found that the most practical method is to simply wait until it is pouring rain out. That is when I wash the car as opposed to paying for the car wash. It is also the best time to shower yourself. Heck, I even make money selling bars of soap and umbrellas whenever it rains out.
If your child is not prone to ear infections, laying them down in a big tub with water is not going to cause an infection if water gets in there. I've been using the big tub since my boy was about 3 months. We started with one of those mesh bathing things from Walmart but I sort of forgot to remove it from the laundry before it went in the dryer and well, let's just say it's a sock bag now LOL. He is 7 months old and loves bath time. Yes, he clunked his head once hard enough to make him cry, now he doesn't try to sit up when in the tub. (I was soaked at the end of that bath because of course I immediately picked him up to comfort him without even thinking about how wet he was!). Never had an ear infection. As for little girls, why would you give a baby a bubble bath? Clear water to start and then as little shampoo and soap as is needed. Sorry, but personally I don't see a bubble bath as being needed for a baby and there's lots of other ways to make bath time fun without adding bubbles. The other thing my son loves that we do occasionally is fill the tub up with lots of water so he can swim (with me holding him). He thinks this is just a blast but it's very wet and messy!
Well, kinda, sorta. I rarely use my Bath Tub for a bath because I enjoy showers. But, I do use my bath tub every day. When I clean my critter cages, I use my tub as a wash/rinse station. Some of the cages are 10 gallon aquariums and they just do not fit into any of the available sinks. Also, I found that I can wash the outside plastic chairs much easier if I place one in the tub and then wash it down.
Not only are they very underused, it occupies precious space in land-scarced places like London, Tokyo, New York and Singapore. I find it not only wastes alot of precious water and bathfoam, it is also not safe for children and elderly persons. Even if you put a non skid mat at the base, it is still quite accident prone. We need something to hold on to to ensure that we get out safely but I have never seen any poles erected next to a bath tub. Thus, we have to bend our back and hold on to the slippery edge of the tub to get out. It is also not hygenic as you can see a layer of dirt floating on the water and it usually gets remained behind after the water have been drained off. Thus , more wastage of water to flush them out. It is very difficult to find out what kind of person used it before us and if there were any virus or bacteria left on it when we are using a bathtub in a public place like hostel, hotel or somebodys home. I only use it for one purpose. that is to throw all the laundry into it until it is enough to make a washing machine load. Lol....
depending on the length of your shower, it can save water. For those who take a 30 min shower or longer, the bath is filled up twice with that much water. Also, depends on the size of the tub.
Myself, I take shower in the morning and a hot bath every night. So my tub gets a lot of use. It all depends on how good a bath feels and if you give yourself time to "soak" every now and then.
As a runner, hopping in the bath relaxes my muscles and gives me an even better night's sleep. YAY for bathtubs!
I think bath tubs are used less than showers, exactly because you need to wait more time for it to fill and because a lot of water is wasted. I agree with you.
But there's nothing like a relaxing bubble bath, with perfumed candles and incense.
I have a large tub in my master bath and then one in the second bath, my youngest uses the tub in my room every night.
We have lived here for 2 and 1/2 years and I have only used it twice.
the kids use their tub mostly for a showering.
I normally don't like to take baths, sitting in dirty water just don't do it for me. When I do take a bath. it's just to relax with oil and candles. then I take a shower after words.
But I agree with you, it wastes a lot of water.
well before we had a water shortage there was nothing nicer than to lie in a tub of water especially in winter cause it warm's you up & if more dams were built ( people need water so we need dams to cater for the peoples needs ) there really would not be much of a problem plus billions of trees as well
i would be lost without a bath, what about all the mums with little kids
If I were living alone & only showered...then yes....I would agree....BUT...since I do have 2 kids that like to "hang out" in bubble baths...my tubs (I have 2 bathrooms in my house) get ALOT of use out of them.....yes...it is wasted water...but the kids get clean & they have fun while they are doing it....I myself...shower & get out....I don't remember the last time I actually had time to take a bath...or anything like that....even shaving my legs is done standing up & quickly....lol
I only use bath tubs when I stay in hotels. The one at home serves as a shower cubicle. If I could afford it, I'd rather put a jacuzzi in!
