The side opposite angle A is the longest, which is side BC.

The sum of the three angles is 180, so the first thing to do is figure out the third angle. Angle A must be 180 - 53 - 62, or 65 degrees.

The law of sines says that:

side-opposite-A/sin(A) = side-opposite-B/sin(B) = side-opposite-C/sin(C)

sin(65) is larger than sin(62) or sin(53), so the side opposite angle A must be the longest. That side is BC.

Side A will be longest.

We can deduce the measure of angle A because all angles in a triangle should add up to be 180. 180 - (53+62) = 65.

Assuming that all lettered sides are opposite their respective letter's angles (i.e. angle A is across from side A), side A will be longest because the longest side is always matched with the largest angle. In this case that angle is 65 degrees.

So, side A is longest.

Angle A is 65 degrees and the angle across from it is the longest. The proportion of side distance to angle measure is direct. Side BC is the longest

A + B + C = 180
A + 53 + 62 = 180
A + 115 = 180
A = 65

If I remember correctly, the longest side is across from the largest angle. That means BC would be the longest side.
