Have you ever been the recipient of a random act of kindness? If so, what was it?
A stranger once gave me $750.00 to get my car fixed after over hearing me speak to one of my friends about my car troubles. All he asked in return was that I do the same for someone else in need when I was able to. He was paying it forward way before the movie ever came out.

Yes, 4 years ago my husband and I were on our way to Idaho. We were in a 16' Uhaul. We pulled over so my husband could take off his sunglasses(they were clip-ons). Well the side of the road was soft because it had been raining all day and the U-haul started sinking into the mud!!!! We didn't know what to do. We tried to dig out a trench for the tired, but it didn't work. We thought we would be there forever cause it was a very slow road. Just our luck about half an hour later someone came around the cornor. They didn't have a phone for us to use so instead they went to the next house, which was a couple miles away and let them know what was going on. They called a friend of theirs who was a tow truck driver. It was after hours so he was off duty. The tow truck driver came and got us and our two kitties and the nice family who called him in the first plus let us stay at their house until the U-haul was out of the pit. Then afterwards we decided that we needed to find a cheap hotel cause we weren't going to make it to our destination. The tow truck driver was nice enough to go out of his way and show us the way to the next town and the cheapest hotel. If it wasn't for all those people we would have probably been there on the side of the road all night long. That is really awesome that the guy gave you the money to fix your car. What a great guy.

Yes, and on more than one occasion. I've been practicing the principle of "pay it forward" since long before the movie came out. When I was younger, there were many times that I felt bad because someone had shown my family a kindness and I knew that we weren't in a position to repay it. As I matured, I began to understand that it's all about passing it along when your turn comes. You don't have to be rich in order to show random acts of kindness, and I think that the person on the giving end gains more than the one receiving. It's a wonderful thing.

Yes, I also had a simular experiance re: my car, but mine was due to a flat tire on a major interstate. I had no idea as how to change the tire, how to use the jack etc. Well some one stopped and assisted me, actually did ALL the work. I tried to give them money, which was refused. Was told to help someone out in the future when the occasion arose. Drove off and told me to drive slowly with the smaller tire now on my car. It was extremely HOT that day maybe 90 degrees. I thought of this person as a ANGEL sent to me.

Most definitely I was. Dec. 2006 my glasses broke right in the middle. I ended up going to LensCrafters and found out they were having a "hometown day" ~ a program to help those financially unable to pay for glasses get a pair for free! I got signed up on the program and I ended up getting an eye exam at Dr.'s Value Vision during their special eye exams for $1 promotion, so I got an exam for a buck and a free pair of glasses, right around Christmastime when money was tight and my flexible spending account money was near zero. The way it all happened was pretty awesome and I was very grateful that the good Lord was looking out for me!

I was working 2 part time jobs and was being worked like a dog at one of them. A customer was watching me and had saw the way the employers where treating me, and when I finally was to her table to clear it, she looked at me and said they do not treat you very nice here and handed me a tip and left in a hurry. When I finally got to look at what she gave me it was $100.00 and I cried. I never saw her again to thank her and I also left that place. You never have to do anything that makes you feel worthless or work for anyone that makes you feel like you are lower than crap.If that lady is one of you. Thank You from a grateful everything girl.

I've had several instances in my life where the right person came along at just the right time with a solution to my problem, so I pay it forward whenever I can. Just a couple of weeks ago I bailed a total stranger out of jail so he could get to his dad's funeral. (Checked out his story first to make sure he was telling the truth.)

No, but I have paid for a stranger's meal, and paid a pile of money to get medical care for a stranger's dog that would have died without it....

I wonder if it will be "paid forward".... today someone scratched the bumper on my car & didn't pay for it....

I'm really losing faith in the human race

I've never done anything that big, but I do whatever I can do for most people everyday just to be nice. Most people dont know what to do when you are nice to them, but I carry on about my day. Plus I'm from the South and that Southern hospitality has alot to do with the way I was raised, treat people the way you want to be treated, just like the Lord said.

Wow... that's very inspiring. Did you know there was a book before the movie? The movie was inspired from a book, so he probably read it, but I'm not sure. Well, I've never been paid random acts of kindness.
