It is easier to do that w/ retail motherboards. Either the board supports C2D or a BIOS upgrade is all it takes.

However, it may not be that easy w/ proprietary motherboards used by major system builders. They seem to make upgrades so challenging such that you would rather opt to buy a new one instead of upgrading the old one.

Even tho it quite is a 775 socket does no longer mean it helps center 2 duo. you would be able to wish a bios improve. i'd call dell and with a bit of luck they gives you you the respond you want. this would save you some funds and headache.

unfortunately, not all LGA775 mobo's will support all LGA775 cpu's. check the mother board manufacturers web site for what processors your mobo will support.
