Which Longest Yard? The one with Sandler blew chunks, but the original was ok. With these options I would go with Varsity Blues, although it's not even in the top 5 of the best football movies of all-time.
1. Rudy - When big, tough guys cry at the end of a film, that's good stuff. It's the best football movie, and possibly sports movie ever.
2. Remember the Titans - great actors, incredible plot. The football sequences were some of the best ever captured on film.
3. The Program. Blows Varsity Blues out of the water.
4. Friday Night Lights - excellent movie.
5. Radio. Cuba Gooding Jr. should have won an award for this one.

Varsity Blues is a classic and The Longest Yard needs some time to get better.

I think the best football movie is Remember the Titans. This movie is better than both Varsity Blues and The Longest Yard (original or the recent one).

Varsity Blues by far. The ORIGINAL Longest Yard is decent, but Blues had a way better plot to fall back on.

Varsity Blues, it focuses more about football and the team, while the longest yard is more about the relationship of them Vs the Guards.

Varisty blues because it is far more entertaining and also realistic. Now as far as the two movies that you have chosen i have two better ones that you should have chosen. The first one being any given sunday because this is a realistic look at what professional sports are like behind the scenes as well as great acting. The second should have been Remember the titans and i hope i do not have to explain why.
