Advantages: You would have unlimited time to earn money, gain a very valuable education, and develop maturity and a sense of purpose.

Disadvantages: You would take life for granted, you might get bored, your friends and family would eventually die, and you would lose the conviction to try to make a difference.

Disadvantages to immortality:
Everyone you love would die, and eventually, you would be the only one of your friends or family alive. You could make new friends, but as time passes you would be less and less able to relate to people on the same level, because the culture and manners of people change over long periods of time (just imagine trying to be friends with someone from 200 years ago or longer).
Death is a natural part of life, so being denied the ability to die, your life would be like a very long, arduous day where you just long to go to sleep, but can't.

Advantages:
Acquisition of wisdom. Wisdom is often the result of experiencing life, rather than learning simple facts or studying history.
Passing on of knowledge, first hand. If I lived until 2180, I'd be able to tell about September 11th, 2001 from my own memory, something that is much more real than reading. We're at a point now when the number of living survivors of the Holocaust are becoming fewer and fewer, and it won't be long until the last survivor is dead. I was lucky enough to hear a speech of one survivor, but my children will not have the same opportunity. Someone who lives forever would be able to pass on their knowledge of historic events, first-hand.

What are the conditions? Are you in a state of perpetual youth, or do you age as you normally would.

Advantages:
You have time to acquire the whole of human knowledge
You can experience EVERYTHING there is to experience
If you're perpetually young, you get to remain forever beautiful

Disadvantages:
You will lose everyone you love, over and over again
Legally, how would you exist? Would you live in hiding? Changing your identity? If so, this would be a hassle.
If you do age, aging in at around 1000 would NOT be pleasant.
If you get tired of living, you're f*ucked.

It really depends on the conditions we're going with...immune to disease and aging as well?

Advantages: gain massive wisdom, if you truly live forever people will eventually worship you as a god...use it to conquer enemies and affect positive change in the world.

Disadvantages: you get jaded; if your inability to die includes non natural causes, you will lose fear, and as a result even the craziest of experiences will fail to elicit excitement in you.

It all depends... If I'm going to stop aging and stay young forever then it's worth it because you're going to witness all kinds of new things and meet millions of new people so even if everybody you know dies now you'll never be lonely.
