It's simple. They don't have a plan. They'd rather hug trees and sew up that hole in the ozone, that will continue to get larger no matter what they do, than protect our country from actual dangers that exist.
PS I hate these people that blabber on about the war that obviously know nothing about. They listen to the liberal media that lies constantly. OH, how I love what this country is coming to.

You cannot "solve" terrorism.
It is something that has always been...and something that will always be.
It is everywhere in the world (heard of Rwanda?...the IRA?...the Russian school house that was attacked?)...and it is every day (watch BBC news on your local PBS station one night).
We, living in this great big country of ours, just don't face it the way the rest of the world does. Cuting-and-running from Iraq is no more protective to American than is our being there.
The GOP and most conservatives are marketing to a crowd that can't/won't see past the black and white of good and bad. They can't fathom that it can't be "fixed" and the politicians use that fear as a marketing tool in an attempt to show themselves as the elusive "fix-er" and gain a few votes. Most Democratic candidates, as far as I can see, accept that it is an amoebic problem and try to avoid the idea of there being an absolute solution.
Terrorism, my dear, is one of those "best defense is a good offense" situations. Protecting ourselves does not mean lashing out and chasing the boogeyman through the Middle East. It means maintaining better control of ourselves...it means supporting the manpower needed to better patrol our harbors/ports...it means showing up 2 hours before a flight and not complaining about the security checks...it means taking personal responsibility for our place in the world.
Think about it...

Whatever solution we decide on, it won't be exclusively military in nature. If we don't change our attitude and outdated thinking about the rest of the world, we will only see more of the same. Terrorism and Al Qeada are a international police matter, not one for military occupation from any one country. Its such a shame there is so much oil involved. If we want a real solution, it means thinking globally and politically. These out moded dinosaurs that populate the Bush administration are partly the reason why
we have this war in Iraq. Somebody is making a LOT of money out of this.

The Clinton's & Gore sold out airline security in 96' after TWA FLT 800 was downed ..already knowing that bin Laden vowed to destroy our way of life . Two weeks after "chairman" Gore backed down on tough counter-terrorism measures for the airlines ..hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations began pouring into the democrat party and the DNC from the big airlines ..continuing on until the November elections that year .I wonder how many 9/11 injured ; widowed ; fatherless ; motherless families & friends of victims are aware of the role the Clinton White House really played in terrorism ? Is that why liberals in office do everything & anything to defeat the war on terror ? Hillary ; Pelosi ; Reid ; Kerry ; Kennedy ; Gore & the rest of the libs protect terrorists while Congress works hard to strip away our last freedoms as Americans . Allowing amnesty to millions of illegals ; drug lords & terrorists will destroy the USA - and make the country ripe for liberals like the above mentioned , to strike us with communism & socialism . We already know these democrats hate our way of life . We hear it day in & out . And what's with this plot to take away talk radio ; the right to bear arms - and stop the flow of information on the Internet ? Hillary put her foot in her mouth , John Kerry style ..when she let it be known that "we have too much free speech " . They never think we'll catch on .

I thought most Democrats voted on the War in Iraq and unConstitutional bills like the Patriot Act. Yes, the Democrats are just as much traitors and murderers as the Republicans are.
Neither one seem interested in reopening an investigation into 9-11 and finding out who really pulled off the attacks. That is because both parties are as guilty as sin.

terrorism can't be solved. especially not by escalating violence. Their strategy is bad for Iraq, not protecting America. I'd feel better protected with the National Guard and Reserves in America.

I have the funny feeling you do not listen to Democrats and that is why you think Democrats have not mentioned solving the problems you named. Is there some good reason why you are not over in Iraq fighting Mr. Bush's war if you believe in it so much?

There is no solution to that problem. Just like there is no solution in the war on drugs. The very best scenario for combatting terrorism, is to change the conditions where the terrorist seed is fertilized. That means, establishing democratic states, replacing dictatorships, with freely elected, secular governments. Trying to govern people using religion does not work.

I haven't heard any Dems putting down Afghanistan. I don't recall any dems wanting to sell our ports to middle eastern countries. Yes, they are against Iraq but it's the biggest blunder in our nation's history in a lot of peoples' opinions.

Why haven't Cons ever talked about a good exit strategy from Iraq? Same thing. Why don't they talk about starting the war on a false pretense. Or even the fact that there is nothing good that came from the war.
