I took 2 pregnancy tests, the first said pregnant (tho very faintly) and the 2nd was a clear positive. However, the day after taking the first test I had heavy bleeding on and off for 2 days (which i assumed was my cycle). I also had cramping which I took as menstrual cramps. However, the second test is also showing positive. what could the bleeding and cramping mean? Could an abortion 3 months ago affect the results of a pregnancy test?

i doubt the abortion had anything to do with your current result. My suggestion is go to the er or call you doctor. You may be miscarrying. Many women are pregnant and miscarry without ever knowing they were pregnant...although you could still be pregnant, bleed, yet still have a healthy baby. but again, go to the doctor....they may do quantative blood tests to see if your HCG level is going up (good pregnancy) or down (miscarriage). This will give you a clearer view on whats happening to you.

I don't believe the abortion 3 months ago would affect your test, but its possible. the link below is your exactly question and answered by Planned Parenthood of Pennsylvania. It can take some time for the hormones to leave your system, but after 3 months I doubt that is still the case.

Your positive pregnancy test and your bleeding could indicate you are pregnant again. The bleeding is called "Implantation bleeding" and occurs when the fertilized egg implants in the uterus. Not all pregnancies and not all women get this, but some do. you can google the term and get a lot of good info. You may want to see a doctor for a blood test. Good Luck.

It can effect the results of your pregnancy test as your hormone levels may not have gone down yet. But to be on the safe side I would strongly recommend that you do see an OB/GYN as soon as you can. Being that you had an abortion not that long ago your uterus may not have healed yet and if you were pregnant it may have been a miscarriage. I had a miscarriage when I was 3 months pregnant with my triplets, a month later I got pregnant with my daughter. Because of the miscarriage they put me on high risk pregnancy and such and that was the reason why. I would say it is better to be safe than sorry and go see a doctor for an exam. They would be able to answer you for sure.

After three months your HCG levels should have gone down and you would not test positive, because after giving birth, abortion, or miscarriage, HCG only hangs around for 2-3 weeks.
It's possible you were miscarrying - you can still test positive while having a miscarriage because as stated, HCG is present for 2-3 weeks. Or you are still pregnant and just have some unusual bleeding - you should be checked out by a doctor, regardless.

An abortion 3 months ago would not affect you pregnancy test.

You likley had an early miscarriage. The abortion 3 months ago could have contributed to that.

And while Im thinking about it, if you just had an abortion, you must not want a baby, so if you got pregnant again, maybe you should look into better birth control. Just my opinion.

It could be from a variety of thigs. Any bright red bleeding should be reported to your OB right away,
