As this pitiful excuse for an administration drags on, more and more people are waking up to the hard cold truth. Former President Carter hit the nail on the head.... "Worst Presidency EVER!" The more people try to sound like they know what they are talking about while supporting Bush's antics, the more I have come to realize how badly the underfunded schools have hurt our country. America has gradually been "dumbed down" to the point where Bush seems like a good President to many people... it boggles the imagination. I wonder how long it would take to become a citizen of New Zealand?

Before the 2000 election I read "Shrub" by Molly Ivins, it was about Bush's career and you could tell from the book that he was not just an empty suit, incompetent, but also corrupt, so I was totally expecting a very bad presidency once the republicans on the supreme ct stole the election for him. And it has been far, far, far worse than I ever imagined possible. I still cannot believe any leader would just voluntarily start a war for the fun of it, out of pure spite.

Liberal bias in media? Liberals haven't controlled the media since the 1970's. Media outlet are owned and managed by major corporations. There haven't been more than a spattering of real journalists in news rooms in years.

I am still trying to figure out who voted for Bush to begin with.... Did people not remember his father? I do not care if you are Republican or Democrat or anything in between.... Why would you hire someone to run the country who already bankrupt several businesses? You should choose a president like you are choosing an employee.
I am sick of the word "liberal" being used like it is a bad thing to disagree with the administration. America was founded by people who disagreed with the way things were being done. Those same people are probably rolling over in their graves when they look at what we have become.
This president will be remembered as the man who put bigotry back into The Constitution. He has shamed us all. We should be outraged. I never thought I would see the day I was embarassed to be an American, but I hang my head in shame each time this man opens his mouth.
Furthermore, did we really vote for him? The elections were suspect, but no one stood to protest. We blindly accepted like sheep to the slaughter.
911 happened and we handed over our freedoms on a silver platter. Benjamin Franklin said, "A man who is willing to give up his freedoms in the name of security did not deserve those freedoms to begin with." He would be so ashamed at what we have become....It is a sad day in America. I hope we can recover from the damage this administration has done to the economy, and the image of America outside of the United States.

NY Times, you're quoting an editorialist from the NY Times? What does George Soros have to say about it, I find him to be a little more moderate than the NY Times editorial staff. How about Noam Chomsky, can we get anymore biased?

And what makes you and the NY Times believe what you believe is right?
People don't always agree with each other in politics. That's just a fact. Saying those who think differently from you have lost touch with reality is ignorant and bigoted.

No, being someone who is from outside the US it makes me very sad that our American friends have seemed to start to become a lot like their enemies - bloodthirsty, overly religious, intolerant and conservative.
I'm NOT America bashing. I love America, but it's like watching a previously good friend who has gone off the rails and is ruining their friendships and reputation.
I know I'll get thumbs down, but friends should be honest with friends - and it's a sad fact that currently the US at the moment is pretty unpopular around the world and Bush has certainly not helped.

Then I guess I am. Like I'm going to take anything the NY times says without a few thousand grains of salt. They have desintegrated to one step above the NY Post.
