I've rented this condo since 1998. I just bought a house and want to give my 30-day notice to my landlord. I'm completely drawing a blank on what to write in the letter other than this is my 30-day notice. Any suggestions?
Thanks!!

That's really all you have to state in the letter. It is not the landlord's concern WHY you are leaving. That's your personal prerogative. Just a simple letter stating your intentions to leave will suffice.

If you do not overly trust the landlord, then mail it certified mail return receipt requested, such that you have proof that the notice was duly received.

Nine years is a long time for just a simple 30 day notice. I am sure that you have some kind of relationship with your landlord. Try a more personal approach. I am sure your landlord would appreciate it.

Dear XXX,
Please accept this letter as our 30 days notice to vacate your property. After 9 yrs of renting we have finally been able to afford to buy a home of our own.
Please contact me to set up a move out inspection time at least a week before the 30 days are up, so that we may leave your property in the condition it was given to us. This will give us time to do the necessary cleaning and address any concerns you may have regarding any damages beyond the normal wear and tear.
We have enjoyed our time with you and you have been a great landlord to us. For that we thank you.

Sincerely

XXXXX

certified letter gives official notification to the landlord, so that you can get your deposit back. This gives the LL time to put an ad in the paper (or wherever) to find a new tenant for the property and that it's not vacant for too long. The few dollars you spend on the Certified letter is well worth protecting yourself

Just write what you just wrote
That you bought a place and let them beware of the 30 days.

Please be advised that as of (write in date) we will be moving. As per our contract, please consider this to be our 30 day notice. Please let us know what other, if any, arrangements need to be made.
