Well, the wine, candles and soft music thing is a good start.

I think that everyone wants to be loved, to be extra special to someone and have someone who they can share that special closeness with and love in return. I know that I'm loved by my family and really close friends, but yes, I have to admit I would like to have someone tell me they're in love with me. . . if it was the right someone and the words were true. If that happens again someday, it will be wonderful. If it doesn't, I was blessed enough to marry a good man who was my friend to the day he died. I have a loving family, good friends and am comfortable with who I am, so I'll be fine.

Well, a lot of friends say "Love 'ya" or something similar or they write words of affection. That is love between friends.
But from that special someone, I would hope it is a spoken message, then it could be followed with written messages.

Id like to hear it in a clever way. Like they went out of their way to make it special for me.
My boyfriend wrote I Love You on the palm of my hand the first time he said it. Now whenever we are in a group of people or in the movies, he sometimes takes me hand and writes the same thing on my palm, and no one else in the room or group knows he's saying he loves me....it's nice.

Privately and by the someone, i was recently told this in a very public way by others who had been let in on the 'secret' in front of the guy, it was so uncomfortable!

But not too soon!! I dont like it when guys say they love you on the first or second date. I am QUITE sure they have NO CLUE who I am or what I'm about.
I think that timing is important.

If they just blurted it out, and it came out of nowhere, I'd be pretty uncomfortable with that.
If we were in a relationship that had been going on for awhile, I probably would welcome it. That's assuming that it was something I was hoping for.
Saying those three little words too soon can be the death knell of a relationship.

My bf first told me he loved me on a card he had sent to my work with flowers for valentines day. It took me a while after that to say it to him, but he didn't mind, at least he knew i meant it when i said it.

You ask "how"--it would be so pleasurable to have my loved one draw me close in his warm tender arms, look me straight in the eyes,to the point where i could read his heart and soul, and know thru this he is in fact deeply in love with me,and I of him.
