I need about $230 and want to get a paintball gun in time to play with it over the summer when I'm off school. Please... no lemonade stands though (they don't work, and I know from experience) And there aren't any church options.

Well what i would do is get a job, say a paper route or something. Then figure out how long it will take you to earn $230. Then approach your parents and ask them for a loan.
You could say something like this "Listen mom, im really excited to play paintball with my friends this summer but with my new job and all it will still take a month to afford a new paintball gun. Since the season will almost be over by then i was hoping you could lend me $230 to buy a new gun right away. I have done the calculations and i will be able to pay you back in 4.5 weeks and i will even pay you back at 8.5% interest, thats a better return than any savings account would give you at your bank"

Now hopefully she is so impressed with your preparation and proposal that she will give in and probably buy you the gun and hopefully not even charge interest. However if this plan fails you could always go try it on your dad!

Cheers

1. Newspaper Route;
2. Yard Work for an elderly neighbor;
3. If you can get parental permission, in some states you can get a fast food job.
4. Sometimes groccery stores will also hire 13-14 year olds for bagging groceries with parents permission. It depends on your state law;
5. Other odd jobs for neighbors like painting fences, cleaning storm gutters, sweeping out their basement or garage. You may even want to ask your folks for some tips. Remember that they were 13 once.

I started working when I was 12 and always found ways to make money. Be creative! Is there something you are already good at? Take it and run with it.....a few ideas:
* Baby-sitting (it looks really good if you are CPR/First Aid certified, which is easy to do.)
* Are you crafty? Make and sell items, at a craft fair.
* Offer to clean out friends and families attics, basements, garages and have a big yard sale- I made $400 at a yard sale before.
* Do yard work for people you know- help plant flowers, mow lawns, weed gardens, gather sticks and brush, etc.
* Be a busboy or dishwasher for a mom & pop restaurant.
* Pet sit or dog walk if you are good with animals.

There are lots of options out there!! Be creative and you will make it happen. :-)

No, you need a gimmick.

Find a busy street corner. Wear some tattered clothes. Bring a harmonica or a guitar (if you can play it). Any bozo can play a harmonica.

Have a sign and a bucket. The sign should say something like, "Help a starving young musician who lives on the streets as an emancipated minor." You will have your money in a few hours if not less than that.

Use your head, boy. You have to think outside the box, otherwise you will end up like all the sheep of the world.

You are young and full of energy. Plus summer is here. Use your "sweat" as a tool to make money. Market yourself in your neighborhood as grass cutter, car washer, baby sitter, computer teacher (to elderly), etc. Good luck.

Lawnmowing, caddy, baseball ump for youth league. Make a flyer with lawnmowing or other various services and hand them out to your neighborhood. It's a great way to start, and a great way to learn about new business. good luck.

Go to neighbors and ask if you can cut their lawn, clean up flower beds and so on. I always welcome the neighborhood kids to clean around our house.
Ask your parents if there is anything special that you can do around the house and get paid for it.
