you are just letting go of the things that make you yourself... so in essence you arent you anymore because you are letting yourself go... for example people who become depressed or when peple gain weight or become less proactive.. people say, "man you really let yourself go" because they arent themselves anymore. Its not usually a good thing to let go of "you".
