Set fire to the extreme leftists (ie Socialists, Communists) that have taken control of your party. I mean that literally, old fashioned burnings-at-the-stake.

Stop being the umbrella party. That is - stop being party that takes up every grievance in America for the sake of it. Some PACs need to be told to wait their turn and suck it up. Some issues (health care, the environment) just have to be more important than some others. The Democrats are constantly fighting and expending the most energy on the battles that mean very little to most of America. I won't mention them all, but I will say that the gay rights debate has cost Democrats dearly since Clinton came into office, in large part because his campaign was really the first to reach out and appeal to gay voters. Clinton said the right things on AIDS, ensured gays' place in the military, etc. And those are fine things. But while Democrats have fought so hard to make sure about 4% of our population can get domestic partner benefits, nobody has health care. While we argue whether gay couples should adopt, Social Security is running out. Just recently, when the Iraq War was at one of its worst points and Katrina was still a story, the Republicans dragged gay marriage back into Congress for a week as a diversion...because they knew Democrats would take the bait.
Sometimes I think Democrats are more interested in patting themselves on the back for all the things they say instead of actually doing good things. They like to talk too much, and do too little.

By plucking their collective head out of its **** and do something here at home that the country can get behind. JFK had a major stare down during the Cuban Missile Crisis and came just a few hectic hours from all out nuclear war during it. Can the Dems. actually pull that off today?? They need to stand up and start doing what is right for the sake of whats right and not political gain or showmanship. This congress has a majority in both the house and senate and haven't been able to rally one single piece of legislation on Pulosi's 100 hours list. All they can do is try and shove legislation thru that has no chance of passing IE. Iraq pull-out dates and the absolutely ridiculous illegal trespasser amnesty. Niiice. All that AND half the republicans distancing themselves for Curious George, and still can't wipe their own a.s.s.es. Getting back to the greatness of any political parties from the 50's/60's?? Not likely in the next 20-30 years.

in spite of what you hear on suited wing radio, the present Democrat social gathering is the place the Eisenhower Republican social gathering was. the present GOP is lots to the perfect suited of the previous Eisenhower republicans. In genuine fact, the Democrats of JFK's time weren't all that faraway from Eisenhower Republicans then the two. someway the positioned up Reagan republicans have controlled to 'create' a Democrat social gathering that doesn't and not in any respect did exist. it particularly is reported as the strawman argument. completely perfect social and political regulations are labled 'liberal', a be conscious redefined as a pejoritive noun. someway that form of propaganda is meant to make the fascisti regulations of the present GOP perfect. the thought that anyone 'believes' in 'greater' government is nonsense. government has to suited to the placement...much less or greater isn't area of the equation. A return to the fairness Doctrine, run out of city by potential of the Republicans in the time of the Reagan era could sparkling up this propaganda attack on reason, however the GOP's propaganda makes human beings have confidence that a return to 'fairness' is a plot to close them up.....entire concern mongering. the fast answer to the question is that JFK could take the lead in calling the republican social gathering of at present reactionaries and lots suited company stooges. have confidence me, if JFK replaced into around at present the GOP could be calliing him a...gasp....'liberal'!

I wonder if you really know what you're asking? For the Democrats to "redefine" themselves in the mold of JFK would be an easy thing -- they could call themselves Republicans.
I'm not joking, or making a snide remark. JFK championed a strong interventionist foreign policy, and a domestic agenda that favoured capital gains tax breaks and other incentives aimed primarily at the wealthy for purposes of creating new jobs.
If you coolly and dispassionately examine the policies of the Kennedy Administration, they weren't too fundamentally different from those of Ronald Reagan.

The first thing that has to happen is to restrict 'campaign' money to a set amount and limit campaigns to a limited time. Without those two things becoming law there really isn't much hope for the republic. I'm still convinced that the Democratic Party is a lot better for the American wage-earner than the reactionary, industry centered, Jesus freak dominated GOP, but even at that its a matter of degree. Also, it's not 'power' that should be sought in the first place. What should be sought is responsibility, something that both parties seem to have forgotten...and forgotten in the rush for money to get elected. What are the chances? Slim and none. Please tell me I'm wrong!

JFK would be considered a Neo-Con in todays world. He knew the Country needed Peace thru Strength, That Labor Unions were corrupt and were talking away Americas ability to compete World Wide with exhorbitant Labor Costs, and that Taxes needed to be Lowered for ALL Income Classes.
He also had vision and I deals, he spoke of his beliefs and stuck to them, whether a particular Poll said "Yes or No".
They will need a bit of a Revolution in their ranks as the Conservatives had when Ronald Reagan came in.
Truly, this party now seems to have no ideas, other than to hate. I think they are going to lose by a HUGE margin in 2008, because most of America no longer buys anything they are selling.
Then I think you will see them either turn up the "Hate Meter" to a point they will become irrelevant, or they will realize they truly need to change and actually speak to America, instead of dividing it.
As a Republican, I hope they take their time...

The problem with Democrats is they are beholden to the far left. That is where their money comes from.
The current campaign finance laws set this whole thing up. Far left liberals use the 529s and other entities to attack anyone who is not one of them. They are the ones behind Moveon.org, Media Matters, etc.

One; get Bush out of office. He's against everything JFK was for.
Two; elect someone who actually cares for the American people and their individual lives, not someone who'll send them over seas to die at the hands of a car bomb.
Three; start by enforcing Separation of Church-State. We have such a problem here in America where Church Representatives (eg. Fallwell) stick their noses in American politics, even though it does go against Separation of Church-State.
And four; get rid of the Corporate hold over America. That's our biggest problem. Too many big companies have a say-so in our government. That's why gas is so high. There should be Separation of Corporate-State. Because that's when tax precentages go down and the lower classes pay more.

Do you mind explaining why you forgot about Bill Clinton?
I'm a huge JFK researcher and the man certainly was great, but life under Bill Clinton had an equal impact. Considering he modeled himself after JFK I'm not surprised. But let's not forget about him or Jimmy Carter or Lyndon Johnson for that matter. They all had their moments of glory.
