Just be careful.... True women have been doing it since the beginning of time, but a lot of babies didn't make it back then either. If something goes wrong, and you were even 15 minutes away from the nearest hospital could you ever forgive yourself? Things happen all the time. If you are surrounded by doctors and nurses your baby has a much better shot. Your choice, but choose wisely. Your babies life could depend on it....

Any law prohibiting giving birth ANYWHERE would be unenforceable. What happens is the mother goes into labor during a tornado and driving to the hospital is not possible? The link below is from the WA State Department of Health. It was one of the results after searching for "home birth". Someone in the directory should be able to help with a birth certificate.

No, it is not illegal at all. I suggest that you contact a birthing center or an independent Midwife. You can find them in the Yellow Pages. I'm not certain how long you have to "register" them. As for how, there are a few ways to do it, and the midwife will take care of it for you.
