What does Comcast say, I don't know why this would be true?
I have Charter, which is also cable, none of my laptops have an issue including one that is 5 years old. I think someone may be telling you this in error.

Both are fairly fast. Sometimes it's a marketing tactic. The Power Boost thing only makes the speed a little faster for a certain number of megabytes of a download, then it becomes regular speed after that. With Comcast, if you order one of their more expensive ones, it's faster. I have heard better things about Verizon. It's up to you

No, that isn't true. I work for Comcast technical support. We don't support Windows 95, 98 or ME, but if the computer is running XP, 2000 or Vista it doesn't matter how old it is. It doesn't even need a network card, you can use USB if it's too old to have a card.

Also, technically, even if you're running one of those older unsupported operating systems, like 98, the Internet will still work. You just won't be able to get technical support help if you have computer-related problems.

Some of my customers are running computers that are ANCIENT and it still works fine.

NO, that is NOT true. I work ffor a major mfgr. There should be no reason that a WORKING 3 yr old puter coldn't use high speed. However, if their tech support is THAT bad, you might want to y an alternative. Even though cable is usually faster, if you cant get good support, I'd rather have DSL than tech support that is a numbskull.

That sounds like a bunch of horsepoop to me. This is one of those urban legend kind of thing. If you want to know the answer, dial 1-800-COMCAST and ask 'em.
