log sub1/2 (x+4)=y

What this means is that one-half raised to the y'th power is x+4:

x+4 = (1/2)^y

And raising a number to a power, is the same as raising its reciprocal to the negative of that same power, so:

x+4 = 2^(-y)

Assuming you mean the base of the logarithm is 1/2, I'd start by writing in exponential form.

1/2^y=x+4
Now, to find the inverse, switch x and y
1/2^(x+4)=y
Now convert back to logarithmic form or leave it.
log base 1/2 y = x+4

this would be the equivalent

1/2^(y) = x + 4
