There are birds (black color) that carry bird poop in their mouth and swoop down really low (less than 2 feet from ground) over the tennis courts I go to and drop it onto the courts! I've witnessed this many times, and there is lots of poop on the courts. Can someone explain this?

I heard or read recently that a specific kind of sparrow does this to keep predators away from it's nest. When the poop is dropped on the predator, which is usually a crow, the bacteria breaks down the protective oil coating on the bird's feathers and makes the bird unable to fly. This is how sparrows and some other birds protect their young from predation. I know of a sparrow for sure in Great Britain but I'm sure there are other birds too. The bird sees you as a threat and the nest is nearby. The young will be out of the nest in about 4 weeks after hatching.

Its either you had witnessed a bird i have seen on animal planet which does exactly what you said or(most probably) you are hallucinating. You might think its crazy but your brain must have thought of this bird and kept on thinking about it until you "see" it so frequently.

A sweet little Titmouse JUST gingerly placed a crap it carried in its beak directly onto the arm of my bird feeder post. Nasty! Oh it happens. This just may be a hint for me to quit watching so long. lol
