What is a decent paying job (around $10/hr) for a new high school graduate? Especially in the Baltimore area?

-How much does starbucks pay an hour?
-Wegmans supermarket?
-Cell phone places like verizon or t-mobile to those ppl who sell phones or assist customers?
-Telemarketers?

join the laborers union. Hard work, but honest pay and good benefits. Unless you plan on going to college. then just work at starbucks or deliver pizza.

Decent paying job? Good question or do you have lofty goals. Why do I say this? Think about it, you just graduated high school. You want to start out making a per hour wage at a rate that most companies pay for people that have been in the workforce for over 5 years. The company that I work for has a starting per hour wage at $10.00 and this is in south-central Indiana. But, you are competing with people that are a year older or 5 years older or 10 years older or even 20 to 30 years older than you. We also are finding out that many young people (around 95%) don't have the same work ethic than people that are a least 10 years or older than your age. You want to party, you want to play, you get too tired way too easily, but you want the big bucks right away and you think you deserve this.

Now also think about this; in order to get this type of pay that you want, you could be required to work any shift, required to work weekends, and required to work over 50 hours per week. Plus, you could be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and 365 days per year.

No $10/hr at any of those. Starbucks is minimum, after 6 mo maybe you can get $8 if you're lucky, and in the CITY, not outskirts.

Telemarketers can get up to $10 depending on shifts and success rate.

Supermarket -minimum

Phone places are usually minimum plus commission.

phone places are not usually minimum...they start at probably $9 or $10/hr if not more. also, i've seen where telemarketers get paid up to $12/hr. this is in tn though, i'm not sure what ya'lls minimum is.
