Gas companies are going broke haven't you noticed. They're making Billions of Dollars a year and apparently they don't have enough money.

Basically what's going on is the gas companies know that people are going to buy gas so why not slowly raise the prices to get more money. Regardless of the profits they're making.

Plus the government owns a lot of stock in gas companies, so guess what, the government isn't going to do anything to stop it cause they would loose money.

Over the last couple of years, that has helped push prices up.

Though California produces oil, it also must import crude to feed refineries. That means we're competing on the global market to buy oil and have to pay higher prices. Crude oil costs account for the fattest part of gas prices.

--There have also been a number of planned and unplanned outages at refineries throughout the state over the last couple of months, said Susanne Garfield, a spokeswoman for the California Energy Commission, the...

All America has to do is dedicate some of that fat national budget toward really aggressive R&D for a potent & abundant energy source which will release the US from the grasp of the billionaire middle eastern oil sheikhs and those fat greedy oil cats from Texas. I think everyone's electric bill will go way down and gas would be a thing of the past...

Yahoo posted a article about this just a few days ago. Oil company's are shutting down refineries during the peak season for maintenance. This cuts back the # of barrels of oil produced. Means gas goes up. They have been doing this for the past few years now. "The rich get richer, while the poor get poorer"

before you start calling the oil companies greedy- the oil company gets 13 cents, the fed gets 18 cents, but the local whores get over 40 cents! of anyones gouging it's your friends and neighbors in the local gov't.
