Make her a hanky bonnet that she will treasure her whole life.

Make a mobile out of family photos for the her.

Right after my youngest was born I used my maternity clothes to make a quilt for her since, I would no longer need them anyhow.

Congratulations and good luck!

Knit or crochet a sweater, booties, bonnet, blanket, or toy. There are lots of patterns available in books, magazines and on the Internet. Sew a christening gown or other outfits or toys. I am a big believer in reading to children from an early age. How about making an "ABC" book out of pages cut from poster board or other sturdy material. Each page would have a letter and one or more pictures with the word for the picture. You could, for example have for the "B" page "ball, bed, book, blue". This book would not be useful for a newborn, but you could set up the format now and add words she learns as she begins to talk.

I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant with my first child which is also a girl, and for some reason I have decided to get a heap of small canvas's and paint. Of course I am not an artist, I don't have one artistic bone in my body, but truly it doesn't look half bad. I have done an eeyore and an elmo. I have put the dates on the back of them. I think its great and its also a personal item she can tell people I made for her. I tried knitting, and put it this way the paintings came out looking better. Good luck and would love to hear what you have made.

Hi I have a 3 month old as well as a 4 year old. Congratulations!

It depends on what skills you have. Knit and crochet are great for making practical things like hats and socks and wraps and clothes, and there are an abundance of free patterns online for easy pieces. The Baby Yoda is one of my favourites (just google it) as are the baby cargo pants. If you can't knit or crochet, but can sew, I find you can never have enough little blankets and wraps - from simple polar fleece squares with decorative blanket stitich borders right through to heirloom style patchwork quilts. Great for floor play, cots and leg warmers in strollers. If practical isn't your bent, try some toys. Knit and sewn toys are really wonderful - I make lots of felt hand sewn dolls and animals, as well as knitted, crocheted and machine stitched dolls and animals. Again there are tonnes of patterns floating about from the dead simple to the intricate. Check out my blog for some examples of things I have made and links to patterns and tutorials. www.soozs.blogspot.com You'll find a simple tutorial there for making Steiner style dolls from felt.

A diary either written or video that records your thoughts as your due date looms. How you feel about them growing inside you, your hopes and dreams for them. Let them know they are loved, etc. Tell them your favorite books and authors, what you like to do right now, who you were as a little girl, what music you like right now and maybe even your fears. Let them know about their mother and give it too them on a special birthday say 13 or 18. Or another suggestion would be to make them a time capsule. Put in a newspaper from the day they were born, put in your favorite poems, some specialized coin or even just a penny from this year. Again put in things that are special to you. The sky is the limit. Just for the fact that you want to know shows your love. May God be with you and your child from here and forever more.

Well I haven't had a baby but try making something that is made up of parts of things from your family. That way your baby has something from everyone. Maybe you should sew them up and give it to her as a blanket.

If you can knit or crochet, make a blanket. Supposedly crocheting is easier. Check with your loca Michaels Arts & Crafts or JoAnns Fabric stores. They have classes on such things. If you can draw or paint, a piece of art for her room. Have it framed professionally. Write her a letter about her pending birth that she can cherish in the years to come. Have it framed archivally (high-quality matt and frame to minimize deterioration of the paper).

If you can knit or crochet that might be your best option. Make a blanket. She might not see the value of it when she's younger, but it will be a keepsake for her when she's older enough to understand. She may even take it with her to college:) Clothing is cute to, but she'll grow out of it so quickly.

I learned to make knitted socks for my little one when I was 8 months pregnant. Its really worked out because now my whole family has some great socks for their toes in the wintertime.

This has also lead to me knitting an heirloom afghan for my children to pass on.
