if you're talking about a computer virus,

it's basically a programed code that infects your computer via Disk or via Internet.

It comes in any type of variation. It can be just a virus or a group of viruses called a "Trojan Horse"

You need an Anti Virus Software to clean your computer of viruses.
Norton Anti Virus or Mcafee Virus Scan would be the two best choices for that.
