I took Spanish 4 and I feel like I got nothing out of it, but I think that was because I was the only one who did, so the class was completely independent study, which is a little pointless when you are studying a foriegn language.

I feel like having Spanish 4 on your transcript just shows that you went above and beyond, because most people don't take four years of langauge in high school. It's not really expected a lot of places, so I think colleges are sometimes impressed that you took the initiative to take that extra year.

The other thing to consider is that if you are taking Spanish in college and don't take Spanish 4, during that year when you aren't using the langauge you might forget a lot of what you learned in your first three years.

Well 3 years recomended to go to college, but true it's better get it now than college. The only difference between AP and regular is that if you do pass the AP exam, it gives you college credit, but Spanish 4 does not Impress Colleges. It's a requirement.

I have no idea what you are trying to find out. Do you mean is it better to take Spanish now, or take it in your final year? Assuming you are not in your final year now? Things aren't required for college to impress anyone. They are prerequisites for things you will be studying in college. If you plan on studying Spanish, learn all you can now and you may be able to challenge courses and get through sooner.

Four years of a second language will certainly be impressive, providing that you do well. I don't know which grade you're in, but usually you need four years of a language before you're eligible to take an AP course.
