How often and what kinds of concerns have you addressed? Were you answered? Did the congressmen answer you personally?

I have pretty much stopped writing to my congressmen because the reply to one of mine pretty much stated that he was going to vote his way and the constituents that disagreed could go hang or something. The other one has voted a consistent NO on everything. I have only seen one yes from him. Obviously the people they were elected to represent don't matter.

Ha. Not anymore. I wrote several times to one of my Representatives and both of my Senators, to encourage them to stand up and bring an end to the war in Iraq, only to recieve the same standard response several times.

Thats led me to support Sen. Mike Gravel for President, partly because he opposes the war, as I do, and partly because he supports the National Initiative for Democracy, which would empower the citizens of the US to be able to make laws with ballot initiatives at a Federal level. I'm sick to death of politicians who only care about getting in power and staying there, while totally ignoring their own constituents.

The President is there to do what he thinks is right. The Congress is there to represent the people, and theyre not doing it! Theyre representing lobbyists, corporations and special interest groups, not the people.

I write about two or three letters per month. I receive email bulletins from my congressional representative & senators. I feel proud to be a part of the political movement that allows them to know what one of their constituents thinks.
