You'll have to specify the total take at the box office, to have two equations that can be solved.

If "a" = adult tickets, and "c" = child tickets,

a + c = 270

You can substitute back into the original equation:

c = (270 - a)

total = 16*a + 10*c
total = 16a + 10(270 - a)
total = 6a + 2,700

If you know the total amount collected, you can solve that for a and figure out how many tickets of each type were sold.

Not really enough info but this is what I was thinking you meant

16A= amount raise by adult tickets
10C=amount raise by child tickets

Equation 1
16A+10C=amount raised

Eq 2
A+C=270
convert 270-C=A
then use in equation 1 to solve for C given the amount raised. then plug back into equations for A.
