The application for the school that I went to states that you must be able to "Lift and transfer patients to and from the x-ray table. Lift a minimum of 30 pounds and support up to 75 pounds. Move, adjust, and manipulate a variety of equipment to perform radiographic procedures."

They don't test you with dumbbells or anything, but it is important to have some strength because you will have to help move patients.

I am going for nursing right now and have never been told that. I can say from clinical experience that it does help, especially with larger patients but as far as I have been told there is no "specific" weight lifting amount required to go into the field.
