76 isn't a problem for them. Even though they are classified a coldwater fish, they can easily handle temperatures that high without a problem.

You don't state what type of goldfish you have. The koi, common and comets like much cooler water. Some of the fancier types need warmer water.
Do you have it near a window? You may need to cover your tank during the afternoon with something dark to keep heat out the same way people do with their windows (dark curtains, etc).

Get a fan and let it blow onto the surface of the water, or add ice cubes.

Fish can get too warm, they get sluggish. They do best in colder water that's why they aren't treated like tropical fish.

When it gets too warm here (the tropics do get hellishly warm) I just put on the aircon for an hour.

Your fish are not going to die. If your aquarium's weather is about 80 degress F you are in danger. If you want to make your aquarium colder, add cold water sometimes while you are changing your water. And if you have a light mostly keep it turned off, and try not to put your aquarium in direct sunlight.

Get AC or you can move your tank to coolest part of your house and see if this helps any, goldfish like it cool! (70-72* is perfect).
